Would having an electric motor have an impact on crash test results compared to the same car with an internal combustion engine?

For example a Volkswagen Golf can be have an internal combustion engine or an electric motor. Would the car behave differently if it would be in the exact same crash test scenario?

I tried researching this but could only find crash tests of electric vehicles which are not available as internal combustion engine and the other way around.

Your best bet might be comparing crash test results for the Hyundai Kona. They make both ICE and EV versions. Also the hyundai ioniq is available as hybrid, plug-in hybrid and BEV.

With electric cars the batteries are often on the bottom of the car which lowers the center of gravity making rollovers less likely. Also (not sure if crash tests account for this) but electric motors can respond way quicker to a loss in traction by vectoring power to the wheels, combustion engines take longer to do this

Electric cars have more available space under the hood. That’s one factor. Not sure if it’s a pro or con tho.

I guess the free space means there’s more room for a crumple zone to absorb shock of a front end crash to that would be a pro for electric.

Yes, the electric motor’s fuel won’t spill out on the ground and catch fire.

Crash testing is super expensive. It’s required if you’re going to make a lot of cars, but not for individual car conversions.
