Lactose is great in not only birth control but many pills because it is good at being compressed into a pill and holding that shape. It is a great filler ingredient.
Obviously you should ask your doctor but dairy allergies are generally not an issue for medical grade lactose. This is because dairy allergies are to a dairy protein, not pure lactose itself. You would need to be specifically allergic to lactose for it to be an issue.
But then if you had an official diagnosis of this allergy I suppose your doctor could help select a birth control, so if this is a self-diagnosed thing then… whatever. You do you.
As mentioned it’s a convenient way to make certain pills and doesn’t irritate most “intolerant” people at those quantities. Can you ask your doctor to send your prescription to a compounding pharmacy?
