Shouldn’t the extra food energy give you more energy?

The problem with gaining weight is that you’re not using the energy, but you’re stockpiling it. Kinda like if you buy a box of cereal once a week, but you never eat them, you just end up filling your kitchen with them after a year.

This problem is mainly due to a hormonal imbalance, which is due to a lack of proper nutrition mainly, and a lack of exercise.

No. Your body now has extra weight to carry around. Its like having a heavy backpack full of canned food that you must carry everywhere. While yes, in case of emergency you could open those cans of food, until then you are carrying around a heavy weight all the time.

The more weight you put on, the harder your heart has to work just to keep you alive.

Everyone has what is called a TDEE, or Total Daily Energy Expenditure. In short, how many calories does your body burn in a day? For a normal, healthy, adult male, this is around 2000.

As you put on weight, this number actually goes up, and it becomes an upward vicious cycle. Your body burns more, so you eat even more yet, and so on.
