Why does the moon look orange sometimes?

That will generally happen during lunar eclipses.

The moon shines, because the sun is shining on it. When you see the moon, you’re just seeing it being lit up by the sun. When the moon goes through the Earth’s shadow, the Earth starts blocking some of the light. Some of that light travels through the Earth’s atmosphere before it hits the moon. You know how sunsets are all red and orange? Well, it’s that red and orange light from “all the sunsets all at once” shining on the moon.
