Why does shirt lint accumulate in the belly button but nowhere else on the torso?

There was a study released a few years ago that answered this. It has to do with the small hairs around the navel that trap the lint.
Simple curves, buddy. We can have fine amounts of lint on us on any part of our body, but an actual hole where lint can hide? It’s a heaven.

“Why does dirt accumulate under my nail but not on top of my nail?”
Because of crevices and the basic physics of objects in reality.
