Why does intense fear make us weak, light headed like we’re about to faint?

I saw a spider the other night and felt like something was up and I got incredibly light headed, weak and I had to sit down for a bit. Shouldn’t fear give us adrenalin so we could run from the threat?

Fear do give you adrenaline. If your brain were to decide to run instead of freeze you would probably feel it as well. But when you get scared, your sympathetic nervous system activates. This does many things, but one of the things is that blood rushes to your arms and legs in preparation to run or fight. Unfortunately, this means less blood for your head, this is what you are feeling.

Nope. The correct order is: freeze, flight, fight.
