Why does eating a bit of food help with motion sickness/why does not eating before traveling exacerbate it?

So the sensation of motion sickness is a trait developed by our ancestors. If you ate something poisonous and felt dizzy then the body would make you throw it up, because if you feel like your moving but aren’t then it would have been a helpfully trait. The other part to this is that the stomach has a seperate lining of neurones in it, like a second brain in a way. Eating causes this lining to be more relaxed and less jittery about your body moving without your input.
