Why does dark colors tend to be much hotter in the sun compared to lighter ones?

White light is comprised of all colors of light, our eyes see the colors that are reflected off of an object toward us. Dark objects absorb more light, which means it absorbs more heat also, while lighter color objects reflect more colors, and therefore more heat.

Dark colors absorb light and therefore heat with the sun while light colors reflect them and don’t get as hot.
