Alcohol deadens some brain cells & nervous system activity to the point where some of your anxieties & inhibitions (& reflexes & critical thinking skills) are relaxed.

Alcohol is a depressant, so the way that alcohol is made, chemically wise, impacts your nervous system the same way anxiety medication impacts your system. In easy terms, alcohol relaxes your body and the parts of your body that cause anxiety, just like medication. Although drinking to relieve anxiety will cause more harm than good since you will eventually develop a tolerance and even worsen anxiety

Because your brain gets poisoned so you don’t give a damn. They day after is a whole different story

A more specific explanation can be this: (google helped me)

Alcohol is a sedative and a depressant that affects the central nervous system. At first, drinking can reduce fears and take your mind off of your troubles. It can help you feel less shy, give you a boost in mood, and make you feel generally relaxed.

I believe Homer Simpson said it was the solution to, and cause of, all of life’s problems…

Anxiety is a highly “wakeful” mental activity, you’re up, alert and looking around, but too much. So alcohol starts putting parts of your brain to sleep, but not in any normal order, so you’re still up and walking and talking mostly but you’re also pretty unable to put together the normal thought patterns of your anxiety to properly perceive it.

That doesn’t mean those worries or anxieties go away of course, people who are drunk may do the first step of worrying about something over and over, but never actually get any further, or really notice what they’re doing.

“How are we going to.. ??” “But ok, how are we getting .. ??” “Did you remember .. ?” “What’s your name again?”
