Why does a bouncy ball spin, stop, stop, spin, stop when dropped on the ground with no rotation.

All of the bouncy balls I have had when they are dropped they start to spin in on direction and then when they hit the ground again they stop spinning.

The aerodynamics of the ball are not perfect and are fighting air resistance, making the ball spin. (Ball is not perfectly smooth)
