Why do we feel tired after having a big meal?

After you eat your parasympathetic nervous system initiates your rest-and-digest activity in your body. It fills your digestive system with blood and causes relaxation so you can properly digest as much of the food as possible.

Digestion requires energy and to provide energy your body sends more blood in stomach area leaving you feel tired.

Fun fact: you can reverse this process by taking rapid short breaths making your mind believe you’re getting in fight or flight mode.
