Why do our eyes feel ‘heavy’ when we’re tired?

In: Biology

Common sense tells me that our ocular muscles (the muscles that hold your eye in place and move it around) can also become tired after hours and hours of continuous use. Just as if you were to hold a box up for 10 hours it would probably start to feel like holding an anvil, so do our eyes start to seem heavier as we grow more tired. My 2c.
