Why do dippin dots(and other cold things) stick to my tongue?

The cold things freeze the saliva on your tongue and stick to it.
For smaller things, this is only temporary. Body warmth unfreezes the saliva in some time. But if you stuck your tongue on a metal pole in a polar storm, your body warmth won’t be enough to melt the saliva.
