Animal eyes do not glow. Their eyes do reflect light back, the more spherical the eye, the more light is reflected.

Its the light colors that their eyes naturally reflect. Retinas absorb certain frequencies (or colors) of light and reflect others. So if a dogs eye reflects a green shine, that’s the light it’s eyes aren’t taking in, bouncing back and going unto your eyes.

Animals that have eyes that seem to “glow” have an extra part of their eyes that we don’t have. It’s a thin reflective layer just behind the retina at the back of the eye called the tapetum lucidum. The tapetum lucidum greatly enhances the night vision of certain animals because it reflects extra light back through the retina. It’s very common in both predator and prey animals that are active at night, because obviously having good night vision helps younhunt or avoid predators.
