I’ve worked hours under the blistering heat as a mechanic before and yet I feel more tired after working a call center job. Why is that if i’m predominately sitting on a chair all day? I think this also applies to jobs that require driving for long distances.

Your brain gets tired when its used heavily too you know. You didn’t think those few thousand of calories you eat just to maintain your weight all go to your muscles. Your brain consumes about 20% of the energy expended despite being what, 2-3% of your body weight? Moreso if you’re having to think hard. Plus, working a call center and dealing with customers is emotional stress – not shouting “YOU’RE AN IDIOT!” to customers takes a LOT of restraint, I know from experience. I couldn’t imagine having to deal with annoyed/stupid customers all day.
