Why are double bonds only considered to consist of one pi-bond and one sigma-bond? Shouldn’t there be one pi-bond at the “bottom p-orbital” and one at the “top p-orbital”? Also, why is the pz-orbital commonly drawn vertical (shouldn’t that be the py-orbital, and the px horizontal?) 3.17K viewsJanuary 3, 2024 Question88.44K September 5, 2019 0 Comments [pi-bond](https://socratic.org/questions/what-does-a-pi-bond-consist-of) It looks like there are two pi-bonds in the picture.
