Where does throbbing come from?

It’s a sensitivity of the nerves reacting to the pulse of your heartbeat. As the blood pumps through your body, it stimulates the nerves. Usually you can ignore this, but if you are particularly sore you can feel each pulse. The sensation gets worse as well because your body sends more blood to the injured area to help heal it faster, in turn making the sensation ever more noticeable.
