TWRP is a custom recovery, that enables extra features, such as installation of custom ROMs and plugins. And magisk (and previously SuperSU) is an application that grants you root access (i.e gives you access to the main directory of the phone) enabling you to install different tweaks and such. Most of the time they work together. You need TWRP to install magisk or SuperSU
