What is Oracle OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure)?

There are very limited videos on it. The documentation is absolutely horrible in explaining what it is and instead directly jumps into too much info. There are little to no articles that explain it but merely throw in the term around.

Just like microsoft azure or amazon web services (AWS), its a bunch of services that are maintained by the respective 3rd party (Front facing and back end Web services, Databases, analytics, user credentials and more ). They basically take the responsibility of a large IT team (not all the responsibility, just the enterprise level stuff.). Allowing companies to focus more time and resources on developing their product rather than their infrastructure. Just like wordpress makes it easy to “build” a website, OCI (and the like) make it easy for a company to develop and run web services/applications.

It’s really ideal for smaller companies because it completely removes the cost of hardware, it’s maintenance, having redundant high availability, and it’s disaster recovery measures. Also the services they provide work together with each other, which remove another layer of complexity when finding a platform to work on.
