They’re synonyms for each other, more or less interchangeable although chattel refers to any property. Thrall and slave means the same thing though.

Slave is a generic term for a non-free person. Chattel slavery is a mass form of slavery as practiced in Ancient Rome, when slaves are bought and sold and treated like talking tools. Thralldom is a form of slavery found in the old Germano-Scandinavian world, where you can only enslave prisoners of war, you cannot buy or sell them and they are treated like less capable humans, but still humans and can eventually win their freedom back.
