Large chains distributing to other companies

Hey all, just wondering how do large business chains that sell mass products of many smaller businesses (like Walmart) know who sold what?
Is it all computerized with 0 verification and then just paid out ?
I would assume that can be manipulated easily if there’s no verification in place so that’s my second question of how it’s verified

Thanks

Walmart specifically is known for having some of the most advanced sales metrics gathering of any company in history.

Every single sale Walmart does is recorded and sent in real time back to their servers for analysis. They have been a company on the absolute cutting edge of sales analysis for a long time. You probably think of Walmart as trashy or cheap, but their IT infrastructure and data gather and analysis is absolutely the envy of all retail businesses across the world
