Jacque Fresco’s Venus Project?

It is the brainchild of a naive/insane person who proposes that the entire world’s well being can be optimized if the entire world were to switch to what he calls a “resource based economy”. In essence he proposes that everyone on the planet work to their fullest extent in complete harmony while affording access to all resources (including things like human labor) to increase everyone’s standard of living.

While it is technically true that a holistic approach toward improving the state of humanity would likely lead to dramatic benefits, it is also a complete denial of human behavior. It ignores important concepts like people not wanting to work hard/at all without it having any impact on their standard of living. It ignores people’s unwillingness to give up land and other resources to others for no benefit to themselves. And perhaps most of all it completely ignores the issue of differing ideas about what course of action would be ideal to improve the state of the world.

I essence Jacque Fresco is like a stoner taking a long drag from a blunt and saying “Man, things would be so awesome if we all, like… worked together.” Except in this case he doesn’t have the excuse of a brain fried by “medicinal” herbs.
