is “sensemaking” just making sense of things or something more complex?
I’m in an organizational management class and I feel like I’m not really getting the term sensemaking. Isn’t it just making sense of things? How is it different from decision making? Is sensemaking the first part that goes into decision making?
“Sensemaking or sense-making is the process by which people give meaning to their collective experiences. It has been defined as “the ongoing retrospective development of plausible images that rationalize what people are doing” (Weick, Sutcliffe, & Obstfeld, 2005, p. 409).”
Isn’t it just thinking logically or finding a good way of doing something?
