The nasal septum, the plate that divides your nose into two halves, has a bony component on top and a cartilage part lower that cannot be left attached to the skull for the purpose of display. So a skull always looks like it has had half of its nose cut off. The nose is so prominent because of evolution, basically. The air needs to cool off or get warmer (depending on the climate you’re from) when it reaches your lungs.

Nasal cartilage is what provides the structure. Cartilage is densely packed collagen which is why it feels hard.

nose “bone” is a type of material called cartilage, its basically psuedo bone or gooey bone, that’s what gives your nose structure, its the same as sharks, most shark “bone” is in fact cartilage. the human body also has it in other places like your ribcage and the ends of some joints

One of purposes of shape of nose is to provide airflow even when there is a mild obstruction in front, as when sleeping face down.

Also, new born babies don’t suffocate when nursing due to nose being rather hard, making sure boobies don’t block airflow.
