How does the body produce breast milk?

Within the breast, small hollows called alveoli are lined with milk-secreting cuboidal cells. These alveoli join to form groups known as lobules. Each lobule has a duct that drains into openings in the nipple.
Milk is just certain proteins, fats, sugars, and water. There are mammary glands within the breast that secrete the milk into ducts that drain into the nipple. The cells in the glands are specialized to make the specific things needed or to concentrate them if they were made already elsewhere in the body
