How does playing an instrument or doing an musical/ artistic activity change the way your brain works?

Can’t really say it better than that. I’ve always heard that the brain of musicians changes a lot during the musical process and I’m interested in how that works.

Music is basically mathematics.
Music is also creativity and can be emotional.
Both of those tasks are controlled by opposite hemispheres of the brain.
Learning music creates many more connections between hemispheres, and those connections aid in learning other subjects.
