How does mysophobia work?

Question

I’m curious about how someone who is perhaps not the tidiest or cleanest person can be deadly terrified by bacteria? How can they leave the house knowing there is bacteria absolutely everywhere, including inside and throughout the body? I feel like I’d go insane!
