It’s satellite based internet. Doesn’t require phone lines or cable. Just power and a place to point the dish at the satellite.

Satellite internet doesn’t rely upon a local telephone provider and so is virtually impossible to block via government action and providing you have the power and equipment you can get a connection in remote locations.

Satellite Internet uses a satellite dish to send and receive computer data to/from a satellite in space negating the need to be connected to the provider via a wire.

In rural areas, there are also wireless systems that use antennas (with a modem) to allow for internet connectivity within miles of the distribution antenna.
