They use Peltier elements for both cooling and heating. They are also used in mini-fridges.

They actually dont. They heat/cool a reservoir of water that you pull from. They can ‘run out’ of hot or cold water if there is a line.

My energy guy told me this when he came to inspect my house efficiency.

These units aren’t heating or cooling the water so fast they are cooling and heating the water always. They always have a container or line of hot and cold and energy is being used to keep it on all the time.

So when you want it dispensed you just go to it cause it’s been waiting for you. So we turn ours off (our unit has switches on the back for light/heat/cold) if we don’t have guests or when we go to sleep so we ain’t paying for the heating/cooling of water while we’re asleep >_<
