How do seasons work? Why is it cold for a few months and then rainy and hot etc.

The earth is tilted 23.5 degrees relative to the sun, https://c.tadst.com/gfx/750×500/seasons.png?1 and in the winter the southern hemisphere gets more direct sunlight, therefore the northern hemisphere gets less sunlight than average and is colder than average. In the summer the northern hemisphere gets more sunlight, and is hotter.
As for rainy seasons, usually during the hotter seasons moisture is pumped into the air and then the sky through evaporation, and when a cold front comes, rain falls because hot air can hold more water than cold air, so as it cools, air is forced out of the sky.
