how do phones camera quality get better with each model?

Question

Soooo like how do they improve the quality of phone cameras? Is it new discoveries and tech developments made in between the release of each new model? Do they already know how to make the most developed phone cameras possible but break down improvements to sell more models? Will a time come when no more improvements can be made? It’s been on my mind for a while. Sorry if i sound stupid lol I don’t know anything about tech

Incremental development. There isn’t some big technological leaps. Instead, we just find a way to fit the individual pixel sensors into a smaller and tighter lattice, mostly through improved manufacturing quality.
