how do lighters turn lighter fluid into gas when we press the release button?

I’m not sure about this, but what I remember from science classes in secondary school, it’s not actually the liquid that is burning but the vapors it creates. I presume the same can be said for lighter fluid, it’s in constantly vaporising but being contained stays liquid until released.
The fluid *wants* to be a gas–it’s just kept liquid by being under pressure.
When you press the button, some of the liquid is allowed to move out of the tank, where it immediately becomes a gas like it wants to be.
