There’s all kinds of tools that help with image stabilization. One of those is the great tool for all stabilizing, the gyroscope.
It’s crazy! Especially how YouTube has an auto stabilized function that it can apply after you upload a video!
The simplest way that stabilization works is that the camera plots and anticipates the movements and crops the video frame on one side or the other ever so slightly while picking up movement from the next frame to fill in to create a seamless camera movement.
