Energy from the sun is stored in cellulose and released in the form of heat. Light from the sun is spectrum of ‘light’. Totally different

Plants mainly use the red-orange and blue-purple areas of the spectrum for photosynthesis. Since I think a campfire is lacking the blue-purple spectrum, it would be less effective than sunlight, even at the same intensity.

In general, people growing plants under artificial light either use “full spectrum” (same type of output as sunlight), or they use purple lights (no green, since it’s less effective).

I’ve grown grapevine and (mini) tobacco in artificial light. Tobacco likes the purple lights, grapevine prefers the full spectrum. So it’s not going to be the same for all plant species.
