Nerves don’t always work great at transmitting multiple signals. Cold can also overwhelm pain.

someone mentioned before that pain and pressure receptors are intertwined. Something along the lines of when you apply pressure to something, the nerves switch from pain to pressure. I don’t know the exact science of it, but i think that’s the general idea
