Really short, rudimentary answer; Light does not have mass, so it isn’t effected by physics in the same way we expect other things to be.

The speed of light depends only on the stuff it’s moving through – air, water, nothing. A photon does lose energy when it’s reflected, but it doesn’t lose speed. A photon moving through empty space always moves at 300,000 kilometres per second. If it’s reflected, it gets redder (longer wavelength) but not slower.
