Eli5: How is it that mosquitos have enough energy despite their tiny little bodies, that they can torment a human for an entire night?

Usually a mosquito if undisturbed will take enough blood until it is full and wont need anymore so it’s only when it gets swatted away and has to keep coming back for more until it is full that you will end up with multiple bites

The energy required to move a tiny body is also tiny. It’s the same reason a really tall person can generally eat more food than a tiny person and not gain weight (they need that extra food just to keep their body going).
