Your diaphragm is what’s mostly responsible for breathing and it’s located in your abdomen. As it contracts, your chest cavity expands to allow air in which is why your stomach moves.

Your diaphram moves down to draw air into your lungs. This pushes the other organs in your lower torso to haul ass and get out of the way.

When we breath in our diaphragm muscles contract drawing air in and when we breath out the muscles relax pushing air out (yes it’s paradoxical). This contraction and relaxation of the muscle can be seen as the rise and fall of our chest and stomach
