chiplet designs are actually inferior to a monolith design. but it allows you to pump out stuff faster. companies have been doing this for years. it’s nothing new.

Chiplet design doesn’t work differently or necessarily better than normal CPU design, but they are easier to design and manufacture. Think about carving a sculpture from a solid piece of marble vs. carving several smaller pieces and sticking them together.

Also the premise is incorrect, Intel has started doing this sort of thing.
