Do Cubic Zirconium really scratch/cloud easily? If so how?

Basically, every jewelry-related site online suggests that CZ will be scratched up within a few years but I can’t figure out how?

I know CZ has an 8 on Mohr scale while diamond has a 10 but that is much higher than most everyday things so it seems like it would be totally fine.

Is it true that CZ jewelry will scratch noticeably faster in everyday use than diamonds or sapphires?

The scale itself is logarithmic. This means that diamond is very significantly higher in hardness than something at 8 (similar to how we measure earthquakes. Each point is exponentially higher than the last). While I dont know much about the jewelry side of things, hopefully the geological side is helpful for you.
