If the strep bacteria have colonised your throat, then they can develop into strep throat. This can happen if your immune system or another bacteria is suppressing the strep or competing with it for nutrients and the competitor/ inhibitor dies off which would allow the strep to develop into strep throat.

Strep is caused by bacteria, so my gut says you don’t need an infected fella to catch it. Bacteria live all over generally.

Legend was that piercing your ears improved your eyesight…in theory why so many old time sailors had ear rings. I have no clue if this has any validity, but any acupuncturists out there might have an opinion.

Strep throat is the common term for “Streptococcal Pharyngitis.” Streptococcus is a type of bacteria that cause a number of different diseases (Streptoccocus pneumoniea causes bacterial pneumonia for example). You need to be in contact with the bacteria to get the disease, but it can spread through droplets in air and on surfaces a sick person touched.
