So YouTube is implementing a system where creators can mark a video as made for kids or not. If a video is marked for kids, their subscribers don’t get any notification of an upload, there’s no commenting on that video, that video cannot be searched for and creators will only get 10% of normal revenue from that video.

The big problem is that what defines a video as made for kids is extremely vague and can be abused by the FTC to fine creators. For example, let’s say you make a video about the McDonald’s Happy Meal and you curse a lot in it. But your thumbnail just shows you and the Happy meal. The FTC may see that as a video for kids just because they see a Happy meal in the thumbnail. If you don’t mark the video as made for kids, you will be held liable and may be fined heftily

Basically boomers will be looking at YouTube thumbnails and see if it may be something the children like. If the video isn’t marked for children, they drain the creators bank account.
