How can you dye a carpet area?

My wife and I have a 5 'x 7' area rug you want to dye brown. It 'a deep wool carpet pile and fibers are dense. How does one go about this? We would have done professionally, but there are no qualified people in which we live. Any help would be much appreciated.

you need a dye formulated for the protien fibers, a fixative, soap and a trough Woolie very large to pass through. depending on how the alady his dyed may be cheaper to buy a new carpet.
