Child chokes on the carrot and Dies - Your Au Pair to know CPR?

The tragedy struck a school in Long Island Wednesday, days, 16 March 2009, when police say one to two years, a girl died after choking on a piece of raw carrot.

According to Carousel Day School Hicksville, New York, the girl began choking after eating a piece of carrot. Daycare employees tried to perform CPR on her before leaving the child to Nassau University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead at 4:25 pm

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics a child dies in the United States from choking on food every 5 days!

We took a look at the 12 agencies au pair and found health and safety information on all the sites confirm that all au pairs receive training in emergency aid and CPR. The U.S. State Department that requires some form of basic training must be provided during the 4-5 days that are guidance.

We found that only one agency provides the full Core CPR training that results in a CPR Certification!

Let's take a look at what the agencies that provide credit (not all agencies are listed here as most of them had only one or two sentences relating to the "training" to au pairs before being released for home):

Au Pair in America

In terms of CPR training, Au Pair in America says they "include orientation seminars by American Red Cross (formats) that instructors provide hands on demonstrations in infant / child CPR and safety. "How much training is not, and the au pair does not receive a CPR certification.

However, APIA will pay for a child / child CPR and First Aid standards for certification and au pairs child / adult CPR Certification Education at par. The way it works is your au pair is a Red Cross training in your city, pays for it (or you), complete and over the course, receives its certification APIA and reimburse. CPR training costs about $ 200 and is worth the money.

APIA is the only au pair agency that will reimburse your au-pair for this training.

Au Pair Care

Au Pair Care Au Pair is that the Academy au pairs receive "Hands-on American Heart Association CPR & First Aid training. "They do not provide the Core CPR training, which translates into a CPR certificate for the standard or to educate peers. They provide certification the CPR au pairs enrolled in the Infant Program Specialist.

Au Pair Child Care Program Specialist training:

Au Pair Care is the only au pair agency providing CPR Certification Core Training, but only in their Infant Program.

Training uses a practical method for the formation of the pairs in child safety and child care and stimulation and development. " AuPairCare Infant Specialized au pairs attend a course in infant CPR certification and First Aid by the American Heart Association.

A spokesman for Au Pair Care told us that he could not guarantee to all the couples you pass the course (some 8 + hours of formal training and a test), but she said it had "success" with this program and certification CPR Training.

"Au pairs also receive instruction from certified instructors in AuPairCare Infant Massage with Liddle KidzTM Foundation, and the instructions from trainers certified in sign language by Infant Baby fingers, one of the main Infant Sign Language Learning organization. "
