How to remove melted plastic from cast iron fireplace?

I left a loudspeaker at the top of my cast iron fireplace-just tried pulling out that extended the goopy material .. chimney is still cool - but I've no idea how to get off this stuff?

After the fireplace has cooled down, try using a non-abrasive ie spatula (do not want to add scratches to the cast iron) to get under the plastic and lift off. Otherwise, carefully, and gently warm the plastic (maybe from inside the chimney, if able, with a lighter) and clean? Or, maybe put ice cubes on plastic 'freeze' is strong enough to be able chip off. Paint the existing floor and save a little 'money!

Marble floors are a luxury that most of us simply can not afford. If you have existing or linoleum floors, however, you can easily paint your own faux marble floors deceive anyone who walks through them.

With some 'paint and some elbow grease you can easily paint your own faux marble floors throughout the weekend.

This project will cost about $ 150. You should be able to complete your faux marble floors in a week, but rather a lot 'of days to apply layers of polyurethane to protect your hard work.

To paint the Faux Marble Floors wood is necessary:

Paint tray
3 china bristle brushes
Artists Brushes
latex paint, shell Sheen: (base coat: Antique White), three or four marble like colors (Tatimi Tan, Jute Brown, Coyote Trail 1224, Leather bound) - These are the Sherwin Williams paint form
sea sponge
water bottle
latex primer (Kilz)
Latex enamel
cheesecloth
buckets of paint
fine sandpaper
paper towels, rags or old t-shirt
semi-gloss acrylic paint
foam roller and handle
Painter tape

Clean the linoleum floor with an ammonia-based cleaner. Make sure that is completely dry before moving on with this project.
Start lightly sanding your linoleum floor. Broom cleaning of your new work surface.

Now, the entire first floor by rolling on a base layer of high quality latex primer. Use a smooth paint roller. This latex base primer will be smelly, so open the windows if possible.

Once this fund has dried look around to see if you need to plan another light sanding. If the surface is smooth, you can move on to the next step. If you find rough areas or dirt, sand and paint again.

Now, take three different small painter dry and mix a portion of each of 3 colors like marble, with one part water and one part latex glaze. You want this to be a mixture of thick but not gooey.

Squirt the Tatimi Tan Leather Bound mixtures and on a small area, and then use a clean dry cloth to smudge the edges.
Then, add a vein realistic marble look by pulling on Camelback Brown and jute blends into a natural flowing line with a dry brush or cheesecloth. The marble does not look realistic if you see brush marks, so dry sweep your brush in a sweeping movement across them. Turn you brush in a different direction and repeat.

To create three-dimensional marble you have to rewet the surface painted. Take one of your sponges of sea and wet it slightly. Squeeze any water. Now, tap on the painted surface to rewet it. Use your brush dry cleaner once again into an overwhelming mixture of any proposed lines.

Now, keep repeating this process over the entire floor. I like my plan off the tape in blocks of tile, as one might find in a genuine marble tile floor.

If any area of the fake paint needs a treatment more veins, coil and pull an artist with the brush in an old white area of paint. If the vein is too large, use a dry brush to blend the paint carefully, then try again.

Leave your faux marble paint to dry then coat it with some 'paint or polyurethane. Add at least four layers of paint.

Tips Looking for Real Faux Marble:

Use a picture of marble or a true piece of marble for some visual inspiration.

Always practice surface to another groped before the real deal.

A spray bottle of water can help keep your paint wet mixture to help paint.

Always try to keep some 'of paper towels handy to dry the brushes with you.

The color of the recommendations contained in this article produces a tan colored faux marble paint treatment on the floor. You can use white, gray and black for a white paint faux marble treatment.

There is one bedroom in a basement and friends are putting in glass French doors to allow the natural light b / c there are no windows in the room. Personally I think they should be solid, allowing for more privacy.

Antique white is black oxide yellow and blk dye in it, it would be exactly vanilla cream (I am to see the color), but the addition of more YOX (yellow oxide) should do the trick. Bring the can of paint to paint the store with the paper sample of the color you want and match the best they can. Keep in mind, depending on what paint u use out of that gallon, will make it difficult to color correct if you need more. Tip: If you need 2 liters, is used and the other one is full gallon, packed and get 1 color (paint boxing is combined with the two gallons / mixed)

We have an armchair, a Lazy-Boy type chair. The color does not coincide with our stay. What is cost, on average, to reupholster?

The work will take place starting from $ 25 to $ 40 per hour. Done well, this is a job that takes about three hours. I would not do it for less of $ 200. Use the best fabric you can afford, and choose something you can live with a long period of time. In fact, for upholstery is simple, and requires a minimum of tools.
