Chinese takeout does not accept coins of bronze?

A lot of Chinese takeaway get really offended if you offer them small change (ie 1 or 2 pence coins) although only a small amount like 10 or 20 pence. Is there any cultural reasons why the Chinese are offended to be offered bronze coins?. I live in the UK.

They generally do not allow customers to change bronze coins, so have no way of getting rid of them.

How do I sell a rare piece of art? What if an injury?

I own a rare piece of art, dating back to 1450a.d. , Is a medallion Pisanello. I authentication paperwork and assessment, but since it has scratches on it, nobody seems interested. Where else can I try to find a museum or collector who might be interested.

It depends a lot if you want the money for it or not. I think you can give things to museums, so your local museum can be concerned, but the value of things as this depends greatly on the availability and condition, also known as supply and demand. If you want money then I think you will find the scratches is reduced in value, but without the scratches I suspect based on what you said, should be of great value in excellent condition. I hate being a killjoy, but I think the only option is to demonstrate that a particular historical significance, which can be difficult.

Is there someone I can direct assessments rare vintage sewing machine?

I have a rare antique sewing machine that I go back to 1890. This is a Singer industrial machine that has a bicycle pedal pedal. Does anyone know a car like this or if one knows a good company that apprasial I contact? I searched around the internet for information on this car and I did not find any information on it at all. With some furniture, the patina is more important to the overall effect and, when naked and finished the piece often seems to have lost its character and needs another 100 years of dirt and wear hard to get it back where it started. And, under present circumstances, would be unlikely, as most people do not have time to keep their furniture, often as before, that is, Being is not the furniture polish, wax or even treated as often, slowing the build-up around quirks and hardware that is very important in achieving a good patina.

In many cases furniture is expensive and not used, only admired. Originally these items were utilitarian pieces and used for their practical purposes, therefore gaining a rich patina of well-worn through daily use. They were not treated as fixed value or as decorative items. Furnishings needs to be used and maintained, and as this is done the more it will glow and you return a compliment for your devotion.

Provincial and rustic furniture seem to have an aura of its own, with finishes of red oxide powder and blues through the worn wooden base brought a bright body with oils, cooking oils and fats, as well as hands dirty and just everyday use, this should be preserved, not lost. Compared with original furniture painted what is, and also painted furniture with original paint underneath. Sometimes these pieces have more character and charm as it is, rather than stripped and refinished.

In our experience, the radical restoration is only necessary where furniture has been changed, is incomplete or the final has already been partially or completely removed by others. Even in those cases there is still hope, by balancing other work or dissatisfied with the new job in terms of what must be done in each case is evaluated individually, because no two are restored in the same way or through the production processing line type.

Even newly painted pieces can be stripped with care by hand, rather that's all washed down, not to disturb the patina of the unfinished surfaces. Then cleaned by hand, these pieces are often accepted as in original condition with only finishing relive if done correctly. A lot of old enamel is maintained and all the grain filling, if the part is after 1860.

These statements may seem extreme, but you must understand that the elements of quality in good original condition rarely surface, and when they do, we must ensure we do our best to preserve them. If you have a good piece of furniture, go to a professional conservator for advice. I'm sure they would rather that you should see another old finish hosed down the garden path after being robbed by a home renovator zealous.

Let me say there are times where it is necessary for the drastic action, but this must still be done with care and not always with a budget in mind. Otherwise, a large part of our heritage will be ruined by this generation, depriving the next. Antique furniture should show proof of her age, otherwise what's the point? Remember, we are only custodians.
