Scratching them is a sign of scratching the carpet of pleasure?

My cats are often scratch their carpet when I come home, as they are doing something for me welcome. It 'possible that they express their pleasure for me to see like this? also do that when you play-chase each other, one that is not captured scratches the carpet. Any similar experience?
