48 – The Well – The Source – Water held in Wood
A city may be moved, but not a well. Ever permanent in one place as a source of nourishment, the well draws people from miles around to give subsistence. The well is a time to cultivate permanency; setting roots and digging deep, we will find our success. Though we must still be on guard, for the well is ever plentiful, but sometimes the rope is too short to draw the awaiting water. If this should occur, then the wise man will use all means necessary to remedy the situation.
1st – The Muddy Well – The well is very old and the water is not drinkable. The wise man resigns his cause to failure and searches for new horizons.
2nd – The Leaky Well – We have left too many loose ends lying about and now they all gather to thwart our cause. We should pay more attention to details and clean up our messes.
3rd – The Unused Well – The water is sparkling clean, yet he does not drink and ends up going thirsty. We are not using the presented opportunities to their greatest potential. The wise man capitalizes on what is offered.
4th – The Well Under Repair – Masons work diligently as he waits patiently with empty pitcher. There will be a delay in our plans, but this is a good thing, as things must be put into correct order before we may proceed.
5th – The Delicious Well – The water is cool and tastes like a fresh mountain spring. We should have sufficient strength to accomplish this objective as we now have many things in our favor.
6th – The Well Rope – The rope to pull water lays open and ready to be utilized. All the groundwork has been laid. All we must do now is go through the motions.
All Six – Disassembling the Well – Though there still may be water, he disassembles the well for materials that are desperately needed for another cause. We may need to sacrifice something that is still useful.
