Once the holidays are behind us in a secure, what lies before us are about 18 weekends where you will be hotter inside than outside. But this does not mean you're limited to watching the walls of your own home. On the contrary, this is a great time to check the other interior walls and save a bit 'of money to boot. Hotels offer regular rates off-season. Restaurants, especially those in popular summer destination-areas, especially winter supply. Stores also offer deep discounts on inventory that did not sell during the holidays.

* Fredericksburg, Va. - A 40-block national historic district encompasses the downtown area and contains more than 350 buildings dating to the centuries 18 and 19. Filling the planner road trip will be easy to find here a lot of shops in this historic city.
